ROSANNE CASH ROCKS TOWN HALL - WE LUV YA ROSIE !!
Let me just say that I have been a long-time fan of Rosanne Cash - HOWEVER - I had never seen her perform live until now. I was incredibly impressed by her stage presence right from the moment she stepped onto the stage - a seasoned performer who knows exactly what her audience wants. Rosanne began her set with her latest album, "The River & The Thread," performing it in its entirety from start to finish, a desire she had for a long time after being inspired by Lou Reed doing the same in the past. The renditions of the songs remained true to the album, beautifully arranged and executed. The concert's highlight for me was her hauntingly beautiful rendition of Bobby Gentry's "Ode To Billie-Joe." Prior to performing the song, she shared a story about her recent visit to various locations "Down South," including the Tallahatchie River and the famous "Tallahatchie Bridge" from the song. Rosanne humorously mentioned that while pondering what "Billie & Bobbie" had thrown off "The Bridge," she threw a guitar pick instead. Throughout both sets, Rosanne Cash delivered exceptional performances, occasionally surprising her husband and band leader, John Leventhal, by changing the setlist, to which she confidently responded, "It's my prerogative to change the setlist!" You go, girl! It's your show, and you have the right to sing whatever you want! The performance was truly outstanding and well-received by all in attendance. I wish you the best on your successful "Mini-Tour," and mark my words - you will win the Grammy next year for this album, which many are hailing as the best of your career, a sentiment with which I wholeheartedly agree. It has undoubtedly been one of the best musical experiences of the year so far! We love you, Rosie! Your parents would undoubtedly be incredibly proud of you now, as are we - as you heard that night - we are too!
